Large quantities of suspected-stolen cleaning products were seized, after police made three arrests in York.
At about 4.30pm on Monday 27 January, North Yorkshire Police received a call from a vigilant member of the public, reporting suspicious activity at the Monks Cross Shopping Park.
Officers responded immediately, and quickly spotted a red Audi parked in the car park, linked to three women seen nearby.
Working with security staff, and City of York Council CCTV operators, our officers located the three suspects. The women - all of whom had travelled into North Yorkshire from outside the force area - were stopped and searched, and arrested on suspicion of shop theft.
The car was also seized. Checks revealed it may have been showing false number plates. A large amount of items were found inside, including 22 tubs of Bold Gel liquid detergent, 53 bottles of Head & Shoulders shampoo, and numerous other cleaning products.
The three suspects have been released from custody on bail - with conditions not to re-enter North Yorkshire - while our enquiries continue.
