Following extensive enquiries and information from the public, we can confirm that wanted Scarborough man Huw Owen was arrested by Northumbria Police in Newcastle on Wednesday (10 April 2024) afternoon.
The 40-year-old is being transported to North Yorkshire where he will be questioned in custody in relation to an assault on a man in Staithes on 13 March 2024. The man died in hospital at the end of last week.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the wanted appeal which has now been cancelled.
We ask that the man’s photograph is removed from websites and social media as soon as possible while the investigation continues.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the assault are still urged to come forward.
