Witness appeal after serious assault in York

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in York which took place between 10.50pm and 11.10pm on Saturday 26 March 2016.

The victim, a man in his sixties, sustained broken ribs and facial injuries.

It happened on the public footpath in view of the road opposite the RSPCA on Water End, York.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police, by dialling 101, selecting option 2 and asking for DC Andrea Robinson or the York Serious Crime Team. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Please quote incident number 12160052872 when passing information.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent in relation to this incident. He appeared at York Magistrates Court today (29 March 2016).
