This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
Booking appointments allows us to dedicate time to you while other officers are handling emergency calls. For less urgent matters it's often the most effective way for us to help you.
To avoid missed appointments we will give you a timeframe of no longer than four hours. You may be contacted at any time within this timeframe by the officer who has been assigned.
When you report a crime or incident online via our website, or by calling 101, we will make an initial assessment of the risk involved. If it's appropriate to offer an appointment, we will book this with you over the phone or via your preferred contact method.
Where we can't speak to you, we will book an appointment with at least 48 hours’ notice and notify you of the location, date and time via text or email.
If there are times in the near future you'll be unavailable, such as working hours or holidays, please let us know during your initial report.
By telephone
There are some circumstances in which we can obtain all the relevant information over the phone. We will advise you if this is possible.
In person
There may be times when we need to speak with you in person to start the investigation, implement safeguarding, or support someone who could be vulnerable. If this is the case, we will advise you at the time of booking the appointment.
Station appointments
We understand that you may not wish to have police attend your address, and as such we offer appointments at certain police stations between 8am and 4pm. If you would like a station appointment you should make this clear in your incident report.
If you make a station appointment, you should arrive for the start of your appointment window.
We will send confirmation of your appointment time to your preferred method of contact after assessing your report.
If you will not be available at the appointment time, please let us know as soon as possible. A missed appointment may result in us being unable to help you and others as effectively as we would like.
Where possible, we ask you retain your appointment date and time as we will have assigned an officer to be available.
If this is not possible, please update us online or call 101. Quote your incident number and let us know when you will be available to move the appointment.
Incident numbers can be found in texts, emails or letters from us, and will be in one of the following formats: NYP-01012024-0000 or 12240000000.
