Statistics for restrictive powers and criminal justice outcomes include the number of arrests in that quarter.
Some people who we suspect may have committed an offence are not always arrested. They can be interviewed voluntarily as a “Voluntary Attendee” this means that they are interviewed under caution but none of the usual restrictions apply when someone in arrested. Voluntary attendance is not included in these statistics.
The figures do include the number of people who have been charged with a criminal offence in that quarter (please note this does not necessarily mean that they were arrested in the same quarter therefore the figures should not be used for comparing arrests with charges)
The statistics also show the number of Out of Court Disposals – for example people given a community resolution, a drug rehabilitation course, a cannabis warning etc, and the number of Domestic Violence Protection Orders applied for.
