Q1. How many arrests occurred between 21/08/24 and 24/08/24 in York?

Q2. Do you collect data for arrests made at York Racecourse or Ripon Racecourse? If so, can you share the past 5 years' arrest figures? 

Q3. How many incidents of drug confiscations occurred at York racecourse in the past five years?

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by North Yorkshire Police.  

Decision
I have today decided to disclose the following information to you.

Q1. There were 43 arrests made in York in the period 21 August to 24 August 2024.  Please note that this data represents the number of individuals arrested and not the offences arrested for (some individuals may have been arrested for multiple reasons).

Q2. There were 38 arrests made at York racecourse during the period 1 January 2019 to 24 October 2024.  As per my response to Q1, please note that this data represents the number of individuals arrested. I have excluded any instances where the offence did not take place at the racecourse but where the individual was subsequently located and arrested at the racecourse.

There have been no arrests made at Ripon racecourse during the timeframe specified.

Q3. There were 28 instances where drugs were seized from individuals at York racecourse in the timeframe specified.  I have excluded any duplicate data, for example, where more than one drug was seized, and any instances resulting directly from the use of amnesty bins.

Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
