Q3. All submissions are processed. Please note that outcomes depend on the quality of the evidence provided by the reporting person and whether it shows an offence has taken place. A police officer makes the decision taking into account the manner of driving, any external factors and evidence. If there are concerns, the police officer refers the evidence to the Dedicated Decision Makers who determine whether there is sufficient evidence to prosecute.
Q4 & 5. Please see the table below showing the number of submissions which have had positive action taken against the drivers which can include educational letters, ‘What’s Driving Us’ course, fixed penalty points and/or fine and court attendance.

Please also note that there is a discrepancy between the total of submissions to date and the number of positive/no further action outcomes due to the processing of each recent individual prosecution being at various stages of the process. There are specific timescales given for each stage for the driver to comply with which must be adhered to before proceeding to the next level. Any files submitted to court by Op Snap may take 12 months or more to be finalised due to the volume of criminal cases currently in our courts from all policing departments.
Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data. It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
