Please confirm for the year 2023, how many of the following:
A1: Indian
A2: Pakistani
A3: Bangladeshi
A4: Chinese
A9: Any other Asian background
IC4: Asian - Indian subcontinent
IC5: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or other Southeast Asian
IC6: Arab or North African

Were recorded as being suspected or charged with the following:
19C Rape of a female aged 16 and over
19D Rape of a female child under 16
19E Rape of a female child under 13
20A Sexual assault on a female aged 13 and over 20B Sexual assault on a female child under 13

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police.

Decision
I have today decided to disclose the following information to you.

Q1. There were 13 arrest/voluntary arrests in the period 1 January to 31 December 2023.

Please note that we do not have all of the requested self-defined ethnicities (IC categories), therefore our search has included the following:

  • Asian Indian inc Asian British
  • Pakistani
  • Bangladeshi
  • Chinese
  • Any other Arab background
  • Arab

Q2. Of the number arrested/voluntarily arrested at Q1, one individual was charged.

Please note that that as we are searching custody data and arrests/offences we have included the following offence codes within our search:

  • SX03002 Rape a woman 16 years of age or over - SOA 2003 (recordable)
  • SX56070 Rape a female under 16 (recordable)
  • SX03001 Rape a girl aged 13 / 14 / 15 - SOA 2003 (recordable)
  • SX03013 Rape a girl under 13 (recordable)
  • SX03007 Sexual assault on a female (recordable)
