FOI 1097-2024/25 Business Licence Reviews

Under the Freedom of Information Act please can I request the following information broken down by the following calendar years: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. 

Q1. How many applications has your force made to local councils to review the licence of a business suspected of selling stolen goods during the calendar years mentioned above. 

Q2. How many of these applications resulted in a licence being permanently revoked.

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police.

I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by North Yorkshire Police.  

Decision
I have today decided to disclose the following information to you.

Q1 & 2. North Yorkshire Police Licensing have not made any applications to the local authority to review the licences of any businesses suspected of selling stolen goods. Licensing would only instigate a review of premises that held a licence under the Licensing Act 2003.

Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
