*Please note, those that are issued with a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) the driver has an option to complete a course (if eligible), fixed penalty and/or fine or proceed to court ( if they wish to contest the NIP) We would not be able to break down the figures into which options the drivers chose, as we would need to manually review every individual NIP issued and what the outcome was. Also there are the drivers that fail to furnish driver details on the NIP and those drivers who do not comply with the conditional offer. These individuals would be taken to court, however we would not be able to obtain this information without manually reviewing every individual court file that we have processed to see the outcome. This manual process would exceed the time limit allowed under the Act, thus triggering an excess cost exemption.
Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data. It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
