Request
Please could you answer the below for the months of January, February and March 2025.
Q1. Please send me a log of all of the types of use of force one of your officers used - over these time periods - which fit into the "other/improvised" category on your use of force database. Examples of "other" use of force may include restraining detainees against walls, grappling detainees, punching detainees in the face i.e. any use of force that doesn't fit into your typical use of force categories will likely be included in the "other/improvised" category.

Decision
I have today decided to disclose the following information to you.
Q1. In the period 1 January to 31 March 2025, there are 315 use of force entries recorded under the ‘Other/Improvised’ category. I have undertaken a manual review of this data and many of those entries fall within tactical communications, limb/body restraints, strikes and tackles/charges and have therefore been excluded from this data.
Please see the below table showing the use of force entries which have been assessed as not falling within any other use of force category.
