Request: 

1) Please tell me the location of the five fixed speed cameras that issued the most NIPs in a year in the force area - and the number of NIPs issued by each camera.
Can I have this data for the financial years:
021/22 - 2022/23 - 2023/24 - 2024/25 - 2025/26
Please include average speed cameras for this analysis where the cameras have remained in the same position.
I appreciate the force may not have any fixed cameras, so...
2) Please tell me the location of the five mobile speed cameras that issued the most NIPs in a year in the force area - and the number of NIPs issued by each camera.
Can I have this data for the financial years:
021/22 - 2022/23 - 2023/24 - 2024/25 - 2025/26
3) Please provide me with the number of (i) Fixed Penalty Notices and (ii) Speed Awareness / driver education courses that were accepted as 'punishment' by the people issued with the NIPs at each of the camera sites identified by Question 1 and Question 2 - again broken down by year.
4) If possible, please can I have the top speed recorded by the 5 speed cameras referred to in your response to Q1 and the 5 speed cameras referred to in your response to Q2 - for each of the 5 financial years as listed previously

I have therefore decided to exempt providing you with a response to question 2 & 3 pursuant to Section 21 Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act). Please see the exemption explanations below.

There is no information held in relation to fixed speed cameras.

Q4.  Please see the table below the top 5 speeds recorded by mobile speed cameras between 2021 and 2025 broken down by calendar year.

These may not necessarily be in the same vehicle at any particular location as our vehicles are regularly moved around the County according to operational needs

Exemption Explanation

Section 17 of the Act requires North Yorkshire Police, when refusing to provide such information (because the information is exempt) to provide you the applicant with a notice which: (a) states that fact, (b) specifies the exemption in question and (c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.

Section 21 – Information Reasonably Accessible by Other Means

Section 21 is an absolute class based exemption and I am not required to consider the harm or public interest when applying this exemption.

Pursuant to Section 17(1) of the Act this letter acts as a Refusal Notice in response to your request.
