The police cordon on Queen Street in York, near the train station, was lifted at 5.20pm on Tuesday (13 August 2024).
It was put in place following the sudden death of a local woman aged in her 40s which was reported to us by the ambulance service at 10.41am.
Enquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of death and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
The woman’s family have been informed and offered support.
Anyone with information that could assist our enquiries is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 4, and speak to the Force Control Room.
