Were you walking along Malham Road in Hellifield in the early hours of New Years Day?
We’re appealing for a key witness to come forward who was wearing a head torch and approached a black Honda Civic and spoke to the occupant of the car that was stationary at the side of the road.
It happened at between approximately 4:00am and 5:30am a short distance outside of Hellifield.
The occupant of the car has since been arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a vehicle.
If you are the person wearing a head torch who spoke to the man in the car, or have any other information that could help our investigation, please email [email protected] or call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Nathan Dale, collar number 1004.
Or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
