Police were called to a serious collision around 3.30pm on Tuesday 29 July on the A19 at Chapel Haddesley.
It involved a silver Jaguar car with a single occupant - sadly the 81-year-old male driver passed away shortly after arriving at hospital via ambulance. His next of kin is being supported.
The scene was closed to traffic with diversions to allow the emergency services to work safely at the scene. The road reopened just before 10pm.
Thank you to the public who stopped to try and help the driver, and for all who came forward as witnesses.
If you witnessed the incident, and are yet to contact us, please email [email protected] or call 101 and ask for Mike Halstead.
