Two further arrests have been made in connection with an assault in Acomb as police continue to investigate the incident reported on Monday 15 June. This brings the total number of arrests at this time to three.
Two teenage boys were arrested today (16 June) and remain in police custody at the time of writing.
The 48-year-old woman who was arrested has been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to serious facial injuries.
Officers continue to appeal for information from anyone who has not yet spoken to them.

A suspect has been arrested after an assault in Acomb.
Officers from North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information about the assault, which occurred yesterday, Monday 15 June, at about 5.30pm on Front Street, outside Betfred.
A man was attacked by a group of people, sustaining injuries which required hospital treatment.
A 48-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident. She remains in police custody at this time.
Officers are seeking further individuals involved. We’re particularly appealing for any witnesses, anyone with information, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward.
