Police arrested two men on suspicion of stealing a car from York, just half an hour after the vehicle was taken.
At about 1.30am this morning, Wednesday 18 December, North Yorkshire Police received a report that two men had stolen a car from a driver who had offered them a lift.
The suspects drove off in the stolen Skoda Rapid, but officers were able to track their movements north, and by 2am they had located the vehicle in Easingwold.
Two men were spotted nearby, and arrested in connection with the incident.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to provide a breath and drug wipe samples for analysis, and assaulting an emergency worker.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery, and driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs.
The vehicle has been recovered for forensic examination.
Both remain in custody at this time, while enquiries continue.
