Community effort to spruce up Scarborough

Ahead of the busy summer season, North Yorkshire Council has teamed up with local people and organisations - including ourselves at North Yorkshire Police - for a programme of improvement work in Scarborough.

During the council’s recent Let’s Talk Scarborough consultation, more than 60% of respondents thought there was a need for Scarborough town centre to look better, feel safer, and be more welcoming.

As a result, in addition to work routinely carried out, they have allocated more than £200,000 to revitalise parts of the town.

Our Police Cadets and Volunteers have been taking part, including litter picking and painting railings.
