As part of our ongoing effort to enhance safety for all road users, North Yorkshire Police has streamlined the way it receives and responds to Abnormal Loads requests.

Run by National Highways, the Electronic Service Delivery for Abnormal Loads (ESDAL) system makes this process easier for hauliers and structure owners to notify the police along with road and bridge authorities.
This includes going through multiple policing areas which has caused confusion and safety issues in the past, with bordering forces often handling Abnormal Loads requests in different ways.
ESDAL is free to use and does not require any special software – all the companies need to do is register online and wait two to three working days before the system can be used.

As outlined above, North York Police is primarily urging hauliers and other requestors to use the ESDAL system.
The only other option to notify us is via the commercial haulier service AbHaulier.
