Ben Moseley joined North Yorkshire Police in September 2024 as Assistant Chief Constable for Crime and Specialist Operations.
Ben was brought up in the South-West. After attending Nottingham University he joined Thames Valley Police in 1999, before transferring to Avon and Somerset Police where he's spent most of his career.
Ben served as a constable in the central Bristol area, before being promoted to Sergeant in South Gloucestershire in 2006. He subsequently returned to Bristol as an inspector in 2009, and was involved in various significant operations including the 2011 Bristol riots and the London 2012 Olympics. He went on to serve in various roles in Command and Control, as both an initial and cadre Tactical Firearms Commander.
In 2016, Ben was appointed as the area commander for the South Gloucestershire local policing area and in 2019, was promoted to Superintendent. As Superintendent he led a new force-wide Performance and Assurance capability for Avon and Somerset Police.
In 2022, he was promoted to Chief Superintendent, Head of Operational Support, comprising Operations, Intelligence and Criminal Justice.
Ben has undertaken Strategic Firearms Commander, Gold Public Order & Public Safety Command and Multi-agency Gold Incident Command courses and functions. He entered the College of Policing Executive Leadership Programme in December 2023.
Ben now lives in North Yorkshire. He enjoys hiking, mountaineering and follows football.
