Putting on the North Yorkshire Police uniform for the first time is a proud and memorable moment for every new PCSO.
Before you begin your training, you will attend our Clothing Stores for a full uniform fitting. Based at the Transport and Logistics Hub in Thirsk, the Clothing Store team provides all police personnel with their issued uniform and equipment.
The standard uniform for PCSOs is similar to that of police officers. It includes an all‑climate black shirt, uniform trousers, a hat, fleece, blouson and high‑visibility jackets, along with slash‑resistant gloves and over‑trousers. PCSOs also carry body armour, a torch, an equipment belt and a First Aid pouch. Every PCSO is issued with their badge and the distinctive blue‑and‑white band that identifies the role.
