Natalia Danvers was 34-years-old when she started training as a Special Constable in 2020.
Mainly I work with Response Team, where we respond to 999 calls, attending reported incidents in timely manner and taking appropriate actions. I also have many opportunities to work with other departments within North Yorkshire Police to expand my knowledge and gain new skills.
Why did you become a Special Constable as opposed to a paid Police Officer?
I’ve always wanted to work for the police but being a single parent I would have struggled with shift patterns, mainly night shifts. I joined as a Special Constable so that I can get experience and knowledge with a potential idea of joining as a regular officer in the future. Being a Special Constable has giving me an idea and understanding of expectations.”
What would you say to someone considering becoming a Special Constable?
Just do it! It’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and have a better understanding of a Police Force. You will gain friends for life and you will be part of a big family, always being supported both in and out of work.
What is your main role as Special Constable on a day-to-day basis?
Mainly I work with Response Team, where we respond to 999 calls, attending reported incidents in timely manner and taking appropriate actions. I also have many opportunities to work with other departments within North Yorkshire Police to expand my knowledge and gain new skills.
