An overview of our use of powers
This section provides a quarterly overview of our use of powers.
Our Use of Powers Board has been established to provide independent scrutiny of how we use certain powers including Stop and Search, Use of Force, Taser, Restrictive Powers and Criminal Justice Outcomes.
These statistics provide a high level overview of the use of these powers each quarter.
Our Use of Powers Board, led by an Assistant Chief Constable, along with independent scrutiny groups and a Community Reference Group, scrutinise and dip-sample our use of these powers to ensure their use is lawful, justified and proportionate.
Throughout the scrutiny process, body-worn video will help inform and underpin our work, providing key evidence, clarity and learning opportunities.
