Disappointingly, despite a reduction in antisocial behaviour across Spring and Summer of 2026, we have seen a rise in anti social behaviour in the Catterick Garrison area over September and October.
Issued 10 October 2026
The NPT along with response teams, specialist operations and the roads policing group have been supporting with proactive visible patrols, challenging youths and using police dispersal powers when appropriate. In the last month, we have worked with NYCC's community safety hub to issue a community protection warning to an individual involved in antisocial behaviour.
In the last two weeks since the beginning of October, we have issued three community resolution disposals in relation to anti social behaviour. We have also engaged with parents and partner agencies and are interviewing other youths involved in antisocial behaviour.
We ask that any reports of anti social behaviour are reported to the police on 101 or in an emergency 999. We are working with the community safety hub and can use powers such as cease and desist letters, introduce anti social behaviour contracts to youths acting anti socially, and use Criminal Behaviour Orders issued by the Courts where appropriate.
As Halloween and Bonfire night approach, we are also planning ahead to put patrols in areas where they will be more beneficial, and we have a planned community engagement event on 30/10/2026 for those concerned about antisocial behaviour over Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Retail Crime is a national issue, in Catterick we have several Retail areas that include small convenience stores. The Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team aim to be proactive in reducing Retail Crime.

Neighbourhood Officers regularly engage with Retail staff through a shop watch scheme and regular patrols. On the 22nd September, we conducted a day of action as part of Op Tornado jointly with the military police, to visit businesses locally and discuss any issues or concerns with them as well as delivering personalised resources to those businesses.
Catterick Neighbourhoods are supporting the use of banning letters by local retailers where appropriate.
In August and September of 2026, we arrested individuals in relation to shop theft. One of these arrests resulted in the charge and remand of a suspect for shop theft offences.
In the week commencing 05/10/2026, we responded quickly to a report of shop theft from one of our local retailers which resulted in a positive outcome for offence within two hours of it being reported to us.
As the festive period approaches and nationally shop theft rises, we will be working closely with retailers which includes targeted activities as part of Safer Business Action Week 2026 which takes place from the 9th to the 15th November.
