We have recently seen some rural burglaries in which quad bikes, machinery and tools have been stolen. We believe those responsible are from wider force areas.

We have created Operation Passage which is our response to these burglaries. This will see an increase in police patrols in the area, with officers looking to proactively stop those in the Dales looking to commit crime. The Richmondshire Community Safety Hub are involved in the response to the burglaries, along with prevention. They will be offering crime prevention advice and tools to those vulnerable to crime. Should you like a visit from the local team, and would like some of your valuables marked with your details please get in touch through the website and somebody will be in touch.
Two arrests have been made in the past few weeks in relation to Operation Passage. Cross border criminals have been identified as involved in theft of a motor vehicle and a burglary. The two remain on police bail.
**Update**
We have seen a decrease in acquisitive crime with no burglaries reported in the last month. We will continue to monitor this, with Operation Passage remaining a priority for the local team.

Good news:
We recently seized 6 off road bikes that were driving antisocially in the Reeth area. This bikes were being ridden dangerously, across private land and moors.
If you see any bikes acting in this manner, please report this through on the 101 number, or in an emergency contact 999.
**Update**We have introduced Operation Leather to the Dales which relates to our increased patrols over the summer months linked to nuisance off road bikes, and also sees an increase in motorbikers in the Dales. We want to see everyone riding safelt, and our increased high visibility patrols will reflect this.
