We need to overcome barriers when engaging with our communities. Calling 101 may not be the best practice to speak to a local officer, the email system may be more awkward for those without technological capabilities, or you may just fancy a good face to face chat.

Our Resident's Voice survey continues to identify that youth related anti-social behaviour is a concern in Scarborough Town area.
Issued 09 October 2026
We have previously worked with partners to create interventions for young people to prevent them from entering into criminality and to reduce anti-social behaviour. These intervention referrals will continue. We will be building on the work which has already been started by our neighbourhood PCSO's focusing on creating events for young people to attend and engage.
As the dark and colder nights approach, we are expecting a natural de-escalation in groups gathering in town and being involved in anti-social behaviour. For those continuing to engage in disorder, we will continue to tackle rather than tolerate, which may lead to arrests and children being returned to their home address by police to engage with parents.

Anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder continues to be the focus for Scarborough Town.
Issued 09 October 2026
We want our residents to share the town with visitors, without feeling unsafe or worried about going out. We work with partners in a multi-agency forum, designed to enforce upon those who continue to act in an anti-social manner, support those who need help - whether this is to combat substance misuse or to find accommodation and we arrest those who are involved in criminality.
Our problem solving methods also include gathering information and intelligence to allow us to apply to the courts to impose Criminal Behaviour Orders on those who cause the most harm, or to close properties which are linked to anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder
