about
Our team is responsible for Neighbourhood Policing in the Osgoldcross ward. We are based at the police office at Eggborough. Our ambition is to provide a neighbourhood policing service of which you, and we, can be proud. Prevention will be at the heart of our work, through well-informed collaborative problem-solving, building participation and strengthening the communities we serve. We will remain part of those communities, known and accessible to you, and policing in a way that both prevents harm and enhances your trust in us.

If you want to receive regular updates about meetings and events, what we're doing in your area, want to contact us easily with your feedback, or receive alerts about incidents, you can sign up to our community messaging system. You'll receive emails or text messages about the issues you tell us you want to know about.

  • Priority:

Op Circumference - We are continuing our efforts to tackle cross-border criminality, with a particular focus on two-in-one vehicle thefts and residential burglaries in the local villages surrounding our command area.

If you have any information or notice suspicious activity, please report it to us via [101], online, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
Your support is vital in helping us keep our communities safe.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

Operation Circumference is focused on tackling cross-border criminals entering our district to steal vehicles and commit burglary offences. We’ve secured additional specialist support at Force level, enabling us to patrol border areas more effectively and target travelling offenders.

    This operation is ongoing.

    Please Remember:

Lock doors and windows, even when you’re at home.
Keep vehicles secure and remove valuables from sight.
Report suspicious activity immediately via 101 or online.
Stay alert during darker evenings and look out for your neighbours.

Your vigilance and reports make a real difference.
Together, we can reduce burglary and keep our communities safe.

    Actioned 14 June 2026

  • Priority:

Rural crime, including theft from farms, wildlife crime and off road nuisance.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

Poaching continues to be a problem which we are aware of, this causes issues and damage to land. The Rural watch volunteers and Rural Task Force are working with us to combat complaints and actively patrol the area.

    Actioned 14 June 2026

  • Priority:

Speeding and road safety across rural routes and village corridors.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Selby Neighbourhood Policing Team will identify the areas of concern and will target key areas with any speeding offences.
Active Police Volunteers are authorised to use the speed gun and report any issue to the Police for further investigation.

Officers are actively engaging with parents and young people to raise awareness about the law and the dangers associated with e-scooter use.
If an e-scooter is seen being used illegally, the rider will be spoken to and educated. Repeat offences may result in the e-scooter being seized.
Remember: e-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. They are illegal on public roads and pavements.
Please think carefully before buying an e-scooter as a gift. They are not only unlawful to use in public spaces but also pose serious safety risks, especially for children.

    Actioned 14 June 2026
