  • Priority:

Priority identified through the Community Message Priority Survey for June 2026

    July 2026 Priority:

Fraud is an increasing concern within our communities, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds. Offences often occur online or over the phone, with criminals targeting individuals to obtain money or personal information. The impact can be significant, causing financial loss as well as emotional distress for victims.

    Issued 26 June 2026

    Action taken:

    Our Response

We have recently trained additional members of the team as Fraud Ambassadors, enabling them to provide targeted support to victims and offer practical advice to help prevent further offences. These officers are able to engage with the community, raise awareness of common fraud types, and ensure victims receive the guidance and support they need.

    July 2026 Priority: Parking

Parking issues, particularly around school pick‑up and drop‑off times, remain a priority for North Yorkshire Police in Selby. We recognise the concerns this causes for residents, parents and schools, particularly in terms of safety and accessibility.

    Issued 26 June 2026

    Action taken:

    Our Response

Local neighbourhood officers carry out targeted patrols during peak school times to address parking concerns and improve safety. We also work closely with our School Liaison Officers, who engage directly with schools to promote safe parking practices and support long-term solutions.

  • Priority:

Priority identified through the Community Messaging Priority Survey for June 2026

    July 2026 Priority: Burglary

Burglary remains a key priority for policing because it has a significant and lasting impact on victims and communities. Unlike many other offences, burglary involves an intrusion into someone’s home or business, leaving people feeling unsafe in places where they should feel most secure. It can cause not only financial loss, but also emotional distress and a heightened fear of crime across neighbourhoods. By focusing on preventing and detecting burglary, the police work to protect communities, reduce harm, and maintain public confidence.

    Issued 26 June 2026

    Action taken:

    Our Response

Operation Circumference is a targeted policing initiative focused on tackling cross‑border criminals travelling into North Yorkshire to commit offences such as residential burglary and vehicle theft. The operation uses increased patrols, targeted activity in vulnerable areas and specialist support to identify and disrupt offenders, while working closely with local communities to gather information, prevent crime and keep neighbourhoods safe.

    Actioned 26 June 2026
