Our team is responsible for Neighbourhood Policing in Richmond with a team based at Richmond Police Station. Our ambition is to provide a neighbourhood policing service of which you, and we, can be proud and that benefits both our urban and rural communities. Prevention will be at the heart of our work, through well-informed collaborative problem-solving, building participation and strengthening the communities we serve. We will remain part of those communities, known and accessible to you, and policing in a way that both prevents harm and enhances your trust in us.

If you want to receive regular updates about meetings and events, what we're doing in your area, want to contact us easily with your feedback, or receive alerts about incidents, you can sign up to our community messaging system. You'll receive emails or text messages about the issues you tell us you want to know about.

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

We have recently seen some rural burglaries in which quad bikes, machinery and tools have been stolen. We believe those responsible are from wider force areas, we are working with neighbouring forces to tackle the issue.

    Issued 08 April 2026

    Action taken:

We have created Operation Passage which is our response to these burglaries. This will see an increase in police patrols in the area, with officers looking to proactively stop those in the Dales looking to commit crime. The Richmondshire Community Safety Hub are involved in the response to the burglaries, along with prevention. They will be offering crime prevention advice and tools to those vulnerable to crime. Should you like a visit from the local team, and would like some of your valuables marked with your details please get in touch through the website and somebody will be in touch.
We have recovered a number of stolen vehicles and made several arrests.

    Actioned 21 May 2026

  • Priority:

Although we have a relatively low crime rate in relation to shop theft in the Richmond area, we do believe some offences go unreported. All retail businesses now have a dedicated point of contact from the local neighbourhood team, where they are provided with advice on crime prevention, and encouraged to report any suspicious activity.
Reported offences will be investigated and suspects pursued.

    Issued 08 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers will be on regular patrol in Richmond, particularly on foot around the market place. Please report any suspicious persons to them, or report through on 101 to allow officers to attend the area and deter any criminal activity.

    Actioned 21 May 2026

  • Priority:

We have begun to increase our patrols in relation to night time economy, particularly in Richmond market place.
We will work alongside RMP to ensure people enjoying the pub culture in the area do so safely, acting on any anti social behaviour reported, and dealing positively with offenders of crime.
We will also be carrying out education to the local public houses in relation to VAWG (violence against women and girls), ensuring safe reporting mechanisms to ensure safeguarding of any vulnerable persons.
We will use uniformed and plain clothes patrols to identify offenders and to provide reassurance.

    Issued 08 April 2026

    Action taken:

Please remain vigilant when enjoying your night time events, and report any anti social behaviour through to the police immediately.
Officers will present over the coming May bank holiday for NTE patrols and the expected hot weather and rise in alcohol consumption this sees. Please be aware of your surroundings and reports any ASB through to the police.

    Actioned 21 May 2026
