  • Priority:

You have raised concerns of Anti-Social Behaviour in the local villages North of Selby. As the weather warms up there will be an increase of youths in public spaces.

The Selby Neighbourhood Policing Team will identify the areas of concern and will provide regular patrol in the hot spot areas, particularly during evenings and weekends.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

    Our Response

High‑visibility patrols at key times to deter offending and reassure the public.
Early intervention with young people to prevent escalation of behaviour.
Use of proportionate enforcement, including the use of dispersal powers where behaviour is causing harassment, alarm or distress.
Engagement with parents, schools, youth services and partner agencies to address underlying issues.
Close working with local businesses, security staff and the local authority to share information and identify repeat or emerging issues.

    How the Community Can Help

Residents are encouraged to report antisocial behaviour, even if it seems minor, as this information helps us build an accurate picture of where and when issues are occurring.
Reports can be made via 101 or online. In an emergency or where there is immediate danger, 999 should be used.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team remains committed to keeping Selby North safe, reducing harm, and working with young people and partners to prevent antisocial behaviour before it escalates.

  • Priority:

You have raised concerns of speeding and vehicle related disorder, such as E-scooters within the local villages North of Selby.
The areas around Hemingbrough, A63, Cliffe.

We continue to educate parents and children alike about the use of Escooters on public roads and other public places. If an Escooter is seen to be used illegally, appropriate action will be taken in the form of education but if seen again, the Escooter maybe seized. Escooters can only be used on private land with the land owner’s permission. Electric scooters are illegal to be used on public roads and, most importantly, they are dangerous for the person riding them, in particular children.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Selby Neighbourhood Policing Team will identify the areas of concern and will target key areas with any speeding offences.

Officers are actively engaging with parents and young people to raise awareness about the law and the dangers associated with e-scooter use.
If an e-scooter is seen being used illegally, the rider will be spoken to and educated. Repeat offences may result in the e-scooter being seized.
Remember: e-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. They are illegal on public roads and pavements.
Please think carefully before buying an e-scooter as a gift. They are not only unlawful to use in public spaces but also pose serious safety risks, especially for children.
