  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Retail Theft & Commercial Burglary - Continuous positive action against the most prolific retail crime offenders. We work closely along Retailers and commercial premises owners to implement preventative measures and quickly pursue offenders and support businesses overcoming

    Issued 04 August 2026

    Action taken:

Whilst out on ASB patrols in the city centre, our Neighbourhood Policing Team responded to reports a report of a shop theft in progress. They responded quickly to the scene and detained a male from outside force area. The suspect was arrested and taken to York Police station and give a positive outcome disposal.

Our Neighbourhood Policing teams know the importance of responding quickly to reports of shop theft to support local businesses and bring people to justice.

We conduct regular visits to retailers to provide crime prevention advice and we are looking at other ways of sharing information and intelligence with partners to tackle to most prolific offenders.

    Actioned 04 August 2026

  • Priority:

Cycle Theft in across York remains our priority. Last year saw the launch of Op BATTERY and our use of Bike Register as a preventative marking tool and our free marking events using the technology alongside proactive enforcement saw us reduce Cycle Theft in the City Centre by 46% in a Five and a half month period. We continue our efforts York wide in this regard.

    Issued 07 October 2026

    Action taken:

Our preventative Cycle marking using Bike Register and Education piece around what good Cycle security looks like continues.

August 2026 saw a 24% reduction in Cycle Theft across York compared with July 2026, September then saw a slight increase by 11% on August. Our Top 3 areas priority areas across York remain Guildhall Inner at the top (City Centre, North East of the River Ouse inside the City Walls), Heslington & University of York and Clifton. Our focus with any proactive patrols and work to prevent and detect Cycle crime are in these areas first and foremost.

    Actioned 07 October 2026

  • Priority:

Anti-Social Behaviour - Target patrol of Hotspot areas, use of Dispersal, Stop/Search, powers of arrest where grounds permit. Dealing with repeat Youth offending through staged ASB process and both Youths and/or Adults for any criminal offences committed from the behaviour.

    Issued 07 October 2026

    Action taken:

We are deploying additional officers into our key ASB areas on days and times we know there is likely to be more demand based on previous data and current trends. ASB can cause significant impact on our communities and we are committed to tackling these issues.

If you see us out and about, please come and say hello!
