We are based within a multi-agency team at Scarborough Town Hall. This allows us to solve problems alongside a dedicated team from different agencies, to enhance our service to the public. We are working within our communities to create a better quality of life for our residents. Our ambition is to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in our town and to make it a safer place for both residents and visitors. We promote high-visibility patrols, for public reassurance and to encourage engagement from our communities.

We are aware that there are vulnerable members of our community who do not feel safe to contact police to report issues in their neighbourhoods. Sometimes the concept of calling 101/999 is daunting and using the online reporting system is not an option.
Action taken:
We have recognised the need for more face-to-face community engagements within our neighbourhoods therefore we have increased our Community Connection events. We will be advertising them via our website, Facebook and Community Messenger. We will work with more venues, and going forward, they will also advertise our events to make it easier for those who don't have social media or computer access

Priority:
With the summer months, there comes an increase in retail crime, street crime and anti-social behaviour across Scarborough. This includes more shop thefts, street-drinkers, and generalised anti-social behaviour.
Action taken:
We have launched Operation Sun to combat the increase of crime and anti-social behaviour in Scarborough.
We have increased high visibility foot patrols in the town centre and key areas of Scarborough, to proactively deter and prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.
The patrols will also act to arrest and pursue criminality on our streets.
We are working with several agencies and support networks, including those from the voluntary sector to create interventions and referrals in place to offer diversions away from crime and anti-social behaviour.
